When we developed the Tarmac, we didn't just want it to be fast. We wanted it to be fast everywhere. Long climbs, windy plains, Grand Tour stages or local races – we designed a race bike meant to be as complete as possible. How did we do it? We started with Rider-First Engineered™ for perfectly tuned ride quality for every frame size, then added advanced aerodynamic technology that makes it 30 seconds faster than the Tarmac SL5 over 40 kilometers while being 20% lighter.
This Tarmac comes with proven components: Shimano 105 11-speed drivetrain combined with hydraulic disc brakes, a DT R470 Disc wheelset, and our Power saddle.

While aerodynamics was paramount for the development of the new Tarmac and for the development of all our race bikes, weight has always been secondary in this development. Previously, "aero bikes" always meant compromise when it came to weight – the more you reduced drag, the more weight you added. With the new Tarmac SL7, our design philosophy was to keep it at or below the UCI weight limit out of the box, but without sacrificing aerodynamics. And with the help of the FreeFoil Shape Library, tools like FEA (Finite Element Analysis), and some engineering magic from the industry's top engineers, we developed a chassis that weighs only 920 grams, without giving up an ounce of aerodynamics, stiffness, or handling.
-
Continuing our quest to develop the most complete road bike possible, we used our Rider-First Engineered™ philosophy to ensure that the new Tarmac is the most balanced and best handling Tarmac yet, no matter the size. With support from riders on our three World Tour teams – Boels-Dolmans, Deceuninck-Quick-Step, and Bora-Hansgrohe – we made modifications to the Tarmac based on feedback from thousands of miles on the road. We balanced the frame's ride quality, so even the longest days in the saddle are comfortable, without sacrificing the Tarmac's legendary handling and unmatched responsiveness.
-
Building on lessons from the Venge, the new Tarmac SL7 uses simple integration to create a cockpit that is both clean and efficient. We improved hose routing for all configurations – mechanical shifting, traditional stems, round handlebars, etc. – while maintaining its aerodynamic attributes. These same features also make the new Tarmac easy to maintain and practical for everyday use. It's a win-win.
