GENIE — The feeling of riding on a magic carpet: The biggest innovation of the Stumpjumper 15 Alloy is GENIE. This patent-pending air spring technology that we invented grants all three wishes of any Trail Rider: the feel and control of a coil spring, better bottom-out prevention than a standard air spring, and an adjustable "platform" for a playful package.
GENIE IS INSPIRING: GENIE combines the linearity of a coil spring, improving control in rough sections, with the progressivity of an air spring at the end of the stroke to avoid untimely bottom-outs. Truly, it's the best of both worlds – coil and air – with complementary adjustment possibilities. Say goodbye to compromises and hello to the future of damping. AN IMPACT? WHAT IMPACT? : With impact force management that's 16.3% more efficient than a traditional air shock, GENIE allows the Stumpy 15 to be ridden like a longer-travel MTB. For example, the Stumpjumper 15 Alloy (with 145mm rear wheel travel) and our Enduro (170mm travel) both use 101mm of travel to absorb a 1,080 N shock force. TRACTION GALORE: Extensive field tests prove that the Stumpjumper 15 Alloy with GENIE offers 57% more traction than a standard air shock, because GENIE technology gives you smooth, coil-like performance and keeps the wheel in contact with the ground for a longer period.
BYE, BYE, BOTTOM-OUTS: 39% fewer bottom-outs than a standard air spring. During large impacts, you benefit from an increasing ratio in the last 30% of the GENIE shock's travel. Thanks to this two-stage ratio, GENIE reduces the frequency and intensity of bottom-outs.
